Fifth fungi festival preps in full swing

Preparations for the fifth annual Truffle Kerfuffle are in full swing, with the full line-up and tickets soon to be released.

Truffle Kerfuffle president Gavin Booth said organising such an event was "hectic" but everything was gradually falling into place.

Last year's event drew more than 3000 people to the region but Mr Booth hopes for more this year.

"With each year we see more and more people attend and more interest from over east and overseas," he said.

"We hope to see more over the two days."

The festival takes place from June 26-28 and, while the line-up is still being finalised, Mr Booth said attendees could expect a "great mix" of chefs from WA and beyond.

"There'll be masterclasses, truffle hunts, truffle dog demos and lots more," he said.

"Sunday is our family day and we hope to see young and old alike enjoying what's going on at Fonty's Pool."

The Truffle Kerfuffle is dedicated to showcasing the sought-after fungi, along with other produce, wine, arts and crafts, as well as natural attractions.

Mr Booth said the event was an opportunity to promote the Southern Forests region.

"People are realising there's so much more here," he said.

"We hope to showcase this through TK.

"TK isn't simply a truffle festival, it's about the community and it's about the amazing region we live in."

Organisers conservatively estimate the event's economic boost to the region at more than $3 million.
