Busselton resident Ben Ware will take on a cycling challenge like no other when he gets together with friends to ride from Perth to Melbourne next month as part of the Cycle For A Cause.

The trip is expected to take the cycling trio 25 days and as Ware told the _Times _, they were hoping to raise $10,000 for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre while doing it.

"We're hoping to do about 150km a day," he said.

Ware and his friends Sarah Wilson and Elijah Newton will have two reserve cyclists, Gideon McDonald and Jayme Burns, travelling with them, setting up camp and making sure everything is safe as they travel across the Nullarbor to Melbourne.

Ware said McDonald, who rode from Yallingup to Melbourne last year, was a big help to the group because of his experience.

"Gideon's got the most experience but we've all been training for the last two months," he said.

"I've been riding 60km a day to work."

The group have been sponsored by Reid Cycles for the trip, with all of the bikes and gear donated for the ride as well as some bikes which will be raffled off as part of the group's fundraising efforts.

Ware said while he was prepared for blisters and different aches and pains during the trip, he just hoped he wouldn't get sick. "I want to enjoy the ride," he said.

The group will stop in Adelaide and hope to have a rest day before continuing the mission to Melbourne. As part of their continued fundraising efforts throughout the next month, the group will hold a sausage sizzle at the Busselton Foreshore from noon on Monday, April 27.
