NO one would find it more challenging to get out of a warm bed and find a parking spot for the Anzac Day dawn service than our senior citizens.

The challenge has been made a little easier with the Bunbury Senior Citizens Association organising a sleepover for its members on March 24.

Mattresses will replace chairs in the Stirling House lounge area, turning it into sleeping quarters for the seniors.

Centre manager Bev Buck said the sleepover allowed seniors to attend the service, when it may have been too difficult to do so before.

"It's about them just getting out there and saying just because you're older doesn't mean you can't get out and do these things," she said.

Mrs Buck said about 20 seniors were expected to spend the night at the centre.

"It's the first sleepover we've had and it's really for ease of congestion at the dawn service," she said.

"But it's also going to be a lot of fun with games, fish and chips and then breakfast in the morning after the service."

Senior Citizens Association member Val Cousens said she usually went to Perth for the dawn service.

"This is my first Bunbury dawn service in a while and the sleepover will make it easier for me and it will be good fun," she said.

Mrs Cousens said the sleepover was invaluable for seniors who wanted to go to the dawn service.
