Ultrasound charges trial date set
Nine people who were allegedly sold fake ultrasound photographs of their unborn children are set to give evidence in the trial of a Bunbury woman in July.
Magistrate Elizabeth Hamilton today scheduled Rawinia Hayes’ three-day trial, who has pleaded not guilty to 18 charges under WA consumer laws, to start on July 7.
Department of Commerce lawyer Jason Derby said up to 13 witnesses could give evidence in the trial, including the nine complainants and two experts.
Defence lawyer Michael Devlin said he wanted time to consider prosecution evidence, including 12 CDs and a report from an ultrasound imaging expert that were received on Tuesday.
Ms Hayes, who ran the business Amazing 4D Imaging, is accused of selling ultrasound photographs that were not the mothers’ babies.
A status conference will be held on May 7 but Ms Hayes will not be required to attend.
