Australian rally driver Molly Taylor took to the tracks in Nannup on Wednesday for testing ahead of this weekend's Quit Forest Rally.

The 26-year-old rally champion has just returned home from a five-year stint competing in Europe and is ready to show her skills off at the weekend's event.

"It's my first time back in Australia for quite a few years, so it'll be really exciting to see how we get on," she said.

Taylor, who raced the Quit Forest Rally in 2007 and won her class, will this year take on the modified two-wheel-drive racers.

While it's not the most glamorous sport, Taylor said male domination of rallying wasn't something she often thought about.

"Having grown up around the sport it's something I don't even think about," she said.

"As far as doing the job … gender doesn't come into it."

When asked who she thought would be good competition this weekend, Taylor said she was looking forward to competing alongside Evans brothers Simon and Eli.

She said the boys, who had won a number of championships, would be quick.

This weekend's event will count towards Taylor's points in the Australian Rally Championships will aslo see her race alongside her mum, Carol, who has won four Australian Rally Championships and will be co-driving at the rally.

But for Taylor, who now lives in Sydney, it's nice to be home and to have a number of opportunities open up for her.

"There's a lot more sponsors and a lot of opportunities there," she said. "So we'll see what happens."

The Quit Forest Rally will take over Barnard Park tonight and tomorrow night as part of the Trade Hire Busselton Special Stage.

Drivers will compete in Nannup on Saturday and Sunday, with various spectator points available throughout the course.
