THE pristine condition in recent weeks of the gardens fronting the Harvey St John Ambulance Sub Centre building has been the talk of the town for drivers and pedestrians along the main street.

The beautiful blooms and healthy displays of foliage are the result of many voluntary hours of gardening by Lui Lamberto, who lives near the centre.

Mr Lamberto has been volunteering his gardening services for more than two years - pruning, weeding, planting and watering daily.

Mr Lamberto also has his own well-established and flourishing vegetable and flower garden.

The talented green thumb said he just loved gardening.

"I go over to the centre every day to water the plants and care for the garden," Mr Lamberto said.

"A lot of people have commented on the garden saying it's the best it has ever looked.

"At the moment, the marigolds, rosemary and standard roses are really healthy and eye-catching to passers-by."

Sub centre chairman Chris Sabourne said centre personnel were grateful for the hours Mr Lamberto put in to making the gardens look their best.

"We really appreciate it as he volunteers his time and even donates seedlings and fertilisers," Mr Sabourne said.

"And he expects nothing back in return."
