Rotary is asking residents for ideas about developing Rotary Park into a nature playground for children's activities.

Margaret River Rotary met on Thursday last week with Nature Play WA consultant Shea Hatch to discuss plans for a scoping report before a master plan is developed.

Rotary president Terry Hutchings said the group was open to suggestions for the park. Mr Hutchings said the plan would include an off-road cycling training track for mountain bike beginners aged four to 12.

He said Rotary would put its plan into action "as soon as we can get it together".

"Two to three months and we'll see how we go," he said.

Ms Hatch said Rotary Park had good potential for a nature play area, with contemporary thinking about children's education emphasising the benefits of time outdoors.

"It gives parents a safe place to let their children roam free," she said.

Representatives from the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River and the Margaret River Off-Road Cycling Association also attended Thursday's meeting.
