Anglers reminded of new bag limit
In an effort to help herring fish stocks recover, Cockburn and Warnbro Sound fishers have been reminded to adhere to the new recreational bag limit of 12 fish.
The bag limit came into effect on Sunday.
Fisheries Minister Ken Baston admitted the new daily bag limit of 12 Australian herring was a significant reduction from the previous limit of 30 but was confident most anglers would be responsible and fish for the future.
"We can't control the environmental impacts on herring stock but reducing the fishing pressure can help it recover," he said.
Herring are found from Shark Bay to Port Phillip Bay in Victoria.
