WAYNE Patterson said he felt like a "kid in a candy store" when the Ducati Motorcycle Company sent him their latest product.

He was so excited at having the only model in Australia that he took his grandchildren to Yoyo's Ice Cream Parlor where it was milkshakes all round as he unveiled the new bike.

The Scrambler Ducati is described by the company as being a contemporary interpretation of the iconic Ducati model in a "post heritage style".

In a back to the future move the company is looking to appeal a younger market as well as the older riders who remember the classic lines and models from the 1960s.

"It's really stunning - it's a retro type bike but with all the things that a good modern bike has," Mr Patterson said.

"It's a good blend of old and new, with a classic design and a simple engine. I think it will be lots of fun."

The Bunbury motorcycle dealer said he thought the bike would be a hit. Originally conceived in 1962 in response to a call for a light weight dual-purpose machine to appeal to a wider audience, the bike was produced in various configurations until 1975.

The 2015 Scrambler, which comes in four models, is packed with power boasting an air-cooled two-valve 803cc V-twin fed by electronic fuel injection.

The bike is expected to be available in Australia from late February.
