Abandoned kelpie now pin up boy for underdogs

Next year is the Chinese Year of the Sheep, but a kelpie from Benger is hijacking the show.

The dog from Benger will feature on kitchen walls and pinboards for 12 months in a calendar produced by his owner Peter Frisina to raise money for SAFE Bunbury to save animals in pounds.

Kevin the kelpie was adopted by Mr Frisina after he was spotted at the pound in Harvey in 2012.

Mr Frisina named the dog Kevin because when he found the abandoned dog, Kevin Rudd was also getting rejected.

Since his adoption, Kevin the kelpie has proved himself a patient model, a trait Mr Frisina has taken advantage of for the One Year with Kevin the Kelpie 2015 calendar.

Included are photos of the dog dressed in West Coast Eagles and Fremantle Dockers gear to celebrate the Western Derby in June, settling down with a book in July and wearing rabbit ears for Easter in April.

Mr Frisina said SAFE Bunbury did great work and he decided to do something a little different to support the charity.

“As Kevin is a rescued dog it seemed fitting that proceeds of this calendar are going to SAFE in Bunbury,” he said.

The calendars are for sale for $15 each from BD Mechanics in Benger and the Big Coffee Van that parks at Australind foreshore.
