Service, training, quality puts cafe on top

Coffee lovers have a new must-visit destination along Bunbury’s cafe strip.

Cafe 140 was one of only two eateries outside of Perth to take home an I Love Food award, picking up the prize for the best coffee and tea.

To win, Cafe 140 owners Kristy and Alex Garbelini enlisted the help of their loyal customer base to vote them into the winning position, helping them to take home the award for the second time in a row.

“We feel we are very lucky to have very supportive and loyal customers, ” Mrs Garbelini said.

The Garbelinis were delighted to share the good news with their customers.

“We were really excited, ” Mrs Garbelini said.

“It was great for the girls to get that bit of extra recognition for their work.”

Mr Garbelini said the award reflected their focus on staff development and high quality products.

“I think we are good because we do a lot of training and we use Five Senses coffee, ” he said.

“We’ve also pushed ahead offering our customers single origin coffee, which we change from week to week.”

Mrs Garbelini also put their success down to memorable customer service, which she said had put them on the map.

“We want to make Bunbury a destination, where people come and say ‘wow’ because there is really good service, ” she said.

Along with several other Bunbury eateries, Cafe 140 won a positive review in last year’s Lonely Planet guide. Its coffee and salmon omelette was singled out for praise.
