The Drug Aware Margaret River Pro has been hailed a success as the first full World Championship Tour event at Main Break since 1990.

Surfing WA chief executive Mark Lane said he was extremely proud of the successful event which had been both exhilarating and exhausting for him and his team.
“You have to think a lot and be alert all the time, ” he said.
“But I’ve enjoyed watching people enjoy themselves.”
The event drew big crowds to the newly redeveloped Surfers Point.
Lane said he heard numerous comments about how great it was.
“The redevelopment stood out, ” he said.
“I had so many comments about how great it was to watch from or how good the lawn was to sit on.”
“To me that was very pleasing.”
Lane said every single person who worked or volunteered at the competition had done an outstanding job.
“I thought event was hugely successful and I think on Sunday it was just a great ending.”
