Bunbury Show draws record crowd

The Bunbury Show attracted record crowds at the weekend, with organisers claiming a wide range of music, motorsport and agricultural events had successfully appealed to a broader spectrum of the community.

Show organiser Rosina Mogg said nearly all of the horse events had full registration and she predicted attendance at the event to be up by almost 3000 people.

“The new markets created a great ambience at the entrance to the show, ” Ms Mogg said.

“The Ute Muster was absolutely brilliant — it had a great turn out and was a fantastic drawcard.”

Donnybrook rider Josh Sheehan, who is sponsored by Red Bull, was also at the show to commentate the freestyle motocross event.

The annual show opened on Friday night with a family concert at Hay Park.

It featured performances by Jon Kirk as DJ Squared and the Badpiper, who promotes himself as the world’s first flame throwing bagpiper.

“The concert went well and people were saying to me ‘who needs fireworks when you have the Badpiper’, ” Ms Mogg said.

Another new addition to the Bunbury Show was the GEOvet’s Pet Parade.

GEOvet Capel manager Narelle Keough said they she expected it to become a popular attraction at the show in future years.

“We did have some great entrants, including some really unusual Mexican dogs with no hair and there are only about four of those in the State, ” Ms Keough said.
