Teahouse takes magic to Savour award

Magiric Emporium’s Melissa Tapper and Milena Di Latte

A Vasse teahouse run by two mothers has taken out an award at the 2013 Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering Awards for Excellence.

Magiric Emporium was named the winner of the Coffee Shop/Teahouse category at the awards ceremony last week.

The business was started two years ago by Melissa Tapper and Milena De Latte at the Old Stone Cottage in Vasse.

Ms Tapper said the duo wanted to do something different and had a passion for high tea.

“We wanted to open somewhere where people can come and feel relaxed,” she said.

“We’re very fortunate to have a regular group of clientele who support us.”

While only open to the general public on Saturdays, the business is flourishing with little events on the side.

Ms Tapper said it had been “very exciting” to be recognised with an award.

“(The teahouse is) something we do out of love,” she said.

“It’s a great small business and to be judged against businesses across the State was amazing.”
