Police call for off-road motorbike information
Kwinana police rolled out Operation Borgina last week, aiming to combat an increase in burglaries and the use offroad motorbikes on main roads.
Sen. Sgt Glen Willers said the use of off-road motorbikes had become a daily occurrence and police were calling on the public to report any sightings or other information.
“That off-road motor bike (pictured right) was seen on Wednesday doing a wheel stand through an intersection with a passenger on the back, straight through a red light – extremely dangerous.” he said. “It is only a matter of time before he kills someone or himself.
“That person must live somewhere.
He must be known by someone. He is very distinctive and we are disappointed that so far no one has rung us to tell us who that person is.”
Sen. Sgt Willers said police believed the increase in off-road motorbikes was directly linked with the increase in burglaries and motor vehicle theft.
“We are absolutely convinced that if we find these people we will solve a lot more crime in Kwinana and that is what the whole initiative is about,” he said.
One man has already been charged with driving an unworthy road vehicle while suspended and under the influence of alcohol.
“We have already caught one and we are confident we will catch more, but we need the public’s help,” Sen. Sgt Willars said. Anyone with information can call Kwinana police station on 9411 4300.
