Forty years on ... magazine pays tribute

The South West Magazine commemorates 40 years since Australia withdrew its troops from Vietnam with an interview with war nurse Judy Dittmer.

The Windy Harbour woman tells of how her time in Vietnam, caring for locals caught up in the conflict, profoundly changed her life. Also in January’s edition of the magazine is a chat with steam train enthusiasts who have restored some of Bunbury’s beloved trains such as the Koombana Queen at the South West Rail and Heritage Centre.

We hear from Southern Forests Food Council executive officer Jeff Pow, who was so taken by a farm near Balingup he moved to the South West. Read about what’s on offer at the upcoming Donnybrook Food and Wine Fest, including the ever-popular grape stomp.

And we look ahead to events, gigs and shows which are on around the region in the new year.

Find these stories and more in The South West Magazine free in this week’s South Western Times.
