Charges laid after Busselton home invasion

South West detectives have charged two men after a home invasion in West Busselton at the weekend.

Police were called to a Moore Street address shortly after 4.30am on Saturday, where a man and woman from the address were discovered with head injuries.

Two men attempting to flee at the rear of the property allegedly earlier broke into the home with an axe and assaulted the victims.

As officers pursued the men on foot, the offenders allegedly confronted them with a loaded firearm and a club-style weapon.

The officers immediately deployed their tasers and secured the offenders.

Following the incident, a 19-year-old Broadwater man has been charged with being armed in a way to cause fear, aggravated assault occasioning bodily harm, aggravated armed robbery and aggravated burglary.

A 30-year-old Busselton man has been charged with aggravated armed robbery, being armed in a way to cause fear, pointing a firearm at another person, an unlawful act with intent to harm, possession of a firearm in circumstances of aggravation and deprivation of liberty.

Both men are due to appear in the Bunbury Magistrates Court today.

The victims were taken to Busselton Hospital. Their injuries are not considered life threatening.
