Man's face slashed in home invasion

Five children were sleeping in a Carey Park home when a man received a cut across his face after two men allegedly stormed in and demanded drugs and property.

Det. Sgt Darren Clifton said the five young children were unharmed but woken by the incident that happened in Hands Avenue at 1.30am on Friday.

He said police would allege one of the offenders was armed with a knife when they entered the house without permission.

“A 20-year-old male received a laceration to his face that extended from cheek down across his nose,” Det. Sgt Clifton said.

The victim was rushed to hospital to receive stitches for his injury, which is alleged to have been caused by the knife.

One of the house’s four adult occupants called the police, who arrived soon after.

A 26-year-old Collie man was arrested at the scene and appeared in court on Friday on three charges of aggravated armed robbery, unlawful wounding and aggravated burglary and commit offence.

He has been remanded in custody to appear again on December 12.

The other man, who ran from the scene, had covered his face and was wearing dark clothing with a hooded jumper.

“We’re seeking assistance from the public to identify that person,” Det. Sgt Clifton said.

“We’re looking for any information, there was a lot of noise.

“We’d like to hear from anyone on Hands Avenue or in the area who may have seen or heard anyone acting suspiciously.”

Police will allege the two offenders confronted some of the residents as they returned home before forcibly entering the house.

Police did not seize any drugs at the scene, but some laptops and cash was stolen.

“The information we have is the offenders weren’t known to the occupants,” Det. Sgt Clifton said.
