Leda PS turns 20 in style

Leda Primary School celebrated its 20th birthday on Friday, sharing the school’s success with students, staff and community members.

Principal Sue Knight said the school had many achievements to be proud of thanks to dedicated staff and wonderful students.

‘‘We have seen a huge change in the students—I think when kids are enjoying what they are doing it makes school successful. Schools are about learning and fun,’’ she said.

Mrs Knight said the school had developed a range of initiatives in the four years she has served as principal.

‘‘We are now a Kids Matter school, we have developed sporting programs and music programs and the success of that is shown through the student choir and their many accolades’’ she said.

‘‘We also now have a community perspective gained through the development of our garden project.’’

Mrs Knight said staff members and parents had gone above and beyond to organise the celebration.

Former principal John Sleight said he was impressed with the school’s progress from its humble roots in 1992.

‘‘It is so different and it has advanced so far—it is beautiful,’’ he said.

‘‘The teachers and staff members should be very proud of their achievements. I am very proud of it.’’

Students celebrated the day with a range of fun after-school activities including fishing games, fortune telling, basketball, face painting and a sausage sizzle.
