More than 500 runners are expected to put their best foot forward for the Margaret River Fun Run on Sunday.
Participants can choose between a 10km run starting from Gloucester Park at 8am or a 4km run from Wallcliffe Volunteer Bushfire Station at the same time and finishing at the river mouth.
The event is organised by the Margaret River Rotary Club in aid of the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Rotarian Marilyn Hopkins said she was hoping for record numbers.
“The Royal Flying Doctor Service is important to us in this town as we are reliant upon them and we’re always grateful when they turn up,” she said.
“We’ve fundraised for various worthy causes during the event’s 14-year history, but this is a particularly popular one.”
Runners can register online at www.mronline.com.au/funrun, or at the front of Sports Power on Bussell Highway on Saturday morning.
The cost is $30 for adults and $5 for under-18s. Adult registration after 1pm on Saturday is $35.
Event manager Carmel O’Brien said she would like to see more people get involved.
“The Fun Run usually attracts around 500 people, but I’d really like to see 600 or 700 this year,” she said.
“It’s a lovely community event and it’s for a very worthy cause, so don’t miss out and get signed up.”
This year’s sponsor is Priceline Pharmacy in Margaret River where the staff are looking forward to the event which has a plethora of prizes up for grabs.
