Surfers heading north
Scarborough Beach

Margaret River surf veterans will make the trip to Scarborough Beach on Sunday as part of the Rip Curl-sponsored Surf Boardroom League.

Team captain Andrew Sheridan and coach Brett Hardy will head up a squad consisting of Matt Baldock, Jerome Forrest, Jethro Hedstrom, Creed McTaggart, Tom Innes, Jacob Willcox and “team mascot” Jaxon Chadwick.

Surfing WA spokesman Justin Majeks said metropolitan clubs would be going hard against the fancied regional squads.

“Despite the strength of the regional clubs coming to Scarborough to compete, the metro teams are guaranteed to provide tough competition with their intimate knowledge of the local beaches,” he said.

“There will be some bragging rights up for grabs this year with Margaret River and Trigg Point the only two teams to have tasted Surf League success recently, and there’sno better rivalry than between the Trigg and Margies boys, it’s definitely head-to-head with those guys.”

Unfavourable winds were forecast for Sunday despite a strong swell.
