Outstanding teamwork contributed to Shire of Augusta-Margaret River rangers being recognised as WA’s best last week.
Shire community development and safety manager Paul Gravett congratulated the team and said they demonstrated great tact liaising with fire-affected residents and fauna-care organisations.
“Members worked above and beyond the call of duty during the Margaret River bushfires last November, undertaking shifts of up to 18 hours a day,” he said.
The group addressed illegal camping, encouraged dog law compliance, reviewed dog exercise areas and created annual Dog Amnesty Days. They won the Ranger Team of the Year at the WA Rangers Association conference.
