Ring road for tourist town
Margaret River's main street.

The southern leg of the perimeter road connecting Bussell Highway to Rosa Brook Road south of Margaret River will still need approval from the Environmental Protection Authority and Federal agencies after a $13 million funding cocktail was announced yesterday morning.

The first stage 1.8km southern leg would connect Bussell Highway to a planned new industrial area for the Margaret River townsite.

When built, the full road route would allow the Shire to redevelop the main street.

Terry Redman MLA said consultation with Riverslea residents would start at once for the second leg of the road.

As reported previously, the northern section of the 7km road was waiting on Parliamentary approval to excise State-owned forest.
