Dance students attack Eisteddfod

Busselton's Jazz Attack Dance Studio entered 23 troupes and 98 solo and duo acts at the 54th Annual Bunbury Eisteddfod.

Clara Best was awarded most promising intermediate dancer after she performed jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical and hip-hop as a soloist or as member of duo and troupe teams.

The studio took the top three places in the novice modern solo 14-and-under category with Taylor Kent first, Catherine Massey second and Tessa Milnes third.

The senior contemporary duo section was also dominated by local students with Carissa Newell and Brianna Zanetti first, Alice Hall and Angela Downie in second place and Amelia Hutchins and Jasmine Nielson, third.

Principal Vicki Newell said the students put in a lot of effort and some trained five days a week while the adjudicators noted Jazz Attack’s progressive choreography.

Two second places were won by 24 students in the senior acrobatic troupe with their version of Cats and the 54 students who performed The Adams Family in the musical theatre section.
