Arcade afire for fashionistas
Maddy Giralt and Katie Chynoweth are behind the drive.

Second-hand fashion will be used as the vehicle to drive business activity back into the heart of Margaret River on Friday.

Local entrepreneur Katie Chynoweth has organised the district’s first fashion roundabout at Settlers Arcade to boost business morale and raise money for Margaret River Fire and Rescue.

More than 20 women would set up stalls in the arcade next Friday to sell off pre-loved fashion items, kickstarting a night of local spending in the town centre.

“I hope it will motivate some people to come and spend some money in town during winter and take everyone’s mind off the tough economic times and local disasters,” Mrs Chynoweth said.

“I’ve advertised it as a girls’ night event with the intention that people will go off and have some dinner and a drink afterward.”

Sellers would pay a $20 fee for a position at the event and were expected to bring in quality clothes, Mrs Chynoweth said.

She said the fire and rescue group was picked as the event’s beneficiary by fashion roundabout co-organiser Maddy Giralt.

The fashion roundabout starts at 6pm and runs til 9pm next Friday.
