One dead after Leschenault crash

Police have called for witnesses to a crash in Leschenault on Saturday which resulted in the death of an elderly man and injuries to two other people.

The crash happened about 3pm between a 4WD and a sedan at the intersection of Marine Drive and Old Coast Road.

The intersection was closed for more than six hours as police and emergency services worked to clear the roads.

The 88-year-old 4WD passenger died at the scene.

The 84-year-old driver and the sedan’s 17-year-old Millbridge passenger were airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital by the RAC rescue helicopter.

The sedan’s 17-year-old Australind driver and one of his passengers in the rear of the vehicle were taken to Bunbury Hospital by ambulance.

No charges have been laid.
