Four of Margaret River’s premier boutique wineries will represent the region with its produce at one of WA’s leading gourmet dining exhibitions next month.
Adinfern Estate, Fermoy Estate, Settlers Ridge Organic Wines and Oceans Estate will take part in the weekend-long Good Wine and Food Show to be held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from July 13.
The show will showcase WA’s finest food and wine producers and some of the world’s best chefs, including England’s Ainsley Harriott, France’s Manu Feilel and Australia’s own Master Chef host George Calombaris and pattiseur Adriano Zumbo.
Settlers Ridge Organic Wines owner Kaye Nobbs said the show presented local wineries an opportunity to skip the middle man and sell their produce directly to metropolitan consumers.
“I was involved in the event a few years ago and actually skipped a few of them, but now they’ve changed the format and have some prominent chefs involved, which will increase the amount of people that walk past our wine stand,” Mrs Nobbs said.
“The most important thing is that we can now sell our wine by the bottle.
“There’s been a downturn in tourism, and although we’ve managed OK throughout that and winter so far, this is the best way to sell our wine.”
Mrs Nobbs said the event was also very good for creating brand awareness and encouraging online sales.
“Most of our sales come from the internet, even though we have a shop front presence here,” she said.
“It’s important to get our wine straight to the buyer who will hopefully order some more or pick it up from one of our stockers in Perth.”
The winery would try to woo crowds with a limited stock malbec merlot, according to Mrs Nobbs, as well as its most recent shiraz release.
