Tears of joy for WA's latest Lotto millionaire

A Warnbro man has become an instant millionaire after claiming a first division Lotto prize - that he won three months ago.

The winning ticket was purchased from Waikiki Village Newsagency for a Saturday Lotto draw held on January 17.

The man said he was unaware of his million-dollar win because he was busy working and hadn't checked his ticket.

"When I got back and realised I had all the winning numbers, I thought this is a dream, it can't be real," he said.

The man's wife cried tears of joy when he shared the news in a back room of their work place.

Then he shared the news.

"I burst out to everyone I'm a millionaire, then we were all crying and hugging and everyone was so happy for us," he said.

Following the big win, the man said he'd now been charged with buying the weekly office Lotto syndicate and was being referred to as their very own 'lucky Buddha'.

"Everyone at work now rubs their Lotto tickets on me for luck!" he said.

But time is running out for another millionaire.

A ticket, worth $1,015,213.50, was sold at Osborne Park Newsages for a draw held on April 12 last year.

Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone was encouraging players to double check those secret hiding spots.

"We would love to give this prize to its rightful owner so we are reminding anyone who may have purchased a ticket in this draw from Osborne Park Newsagency to check them as soon as possible," she said.

Lotterywest is expecting plenty of interest for this Saturday's $21m superdraw.
