Two-week fogging plan for Wyndham

Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley councillors today voted unanimously to run a two-week mosquito fogging program in Wyndham and seek input from a Health Department expert.

Fogging in Wyndham was the sole topic of a special council meeting held at the council chambers in Kununurra.

The meeting was called after Wyndham residents expressed serious concerns about the prevalence of mosquitoes in the town at Tuesday's Annual General Meeting of Electors.

One resident said local children were forced to "come inside from 4pm" because the mosquitoes were so bad.

It took almost an hour of debate before a motion was put forward which all councillors agreed on.

It included a two-week program, with fogging three times a week, and a video link conference with Health Department medical entomologist Peter Neville.

However, it was not said when the fogging would start and finish.
