Break packed with activities

Children learn cooking skills as part of the JD Hardie Youth Zone's Term 3 holiday program last year.

With Easter school holidays just around the corner, the JD Hardie Youth Zone has a jam-packed schedule of activities to keep the kids entertained this break.

Starting on Tuesday, the holiday program caters for children of all ages and features arts and craft activities, sports, movies and games.

Town of Port Hedland Mayor Kelly Howlett said children would also be treated to an excursion during the two-week program.

"The team at JD Hardie (are) passionate about providing our youth with a unique and different experience in the areas of sports, performing and creative arts, academic enrichment and outdoor education as well as life skills and leadership," she said.

"A highlight of the April program includes an excursion to the Town of Port Hedland Depot which will give our young people a behind-the-scenes look at what happens in the day-to-day operations of a local council."

Activities in the first week include an arts class, soccer, gym challenges, rippaball, cooking and a movie.

The second week will feature a treasure hunt, roller skating, an obstacle course, mini Olympics and a music class.
