Events chief wins prestige award

Wrapped Creations director David Yakas has been recognised at the prestigious Business News WA 40 under 40 Awards.

Wrapped Creations director David Yakas has been recognised at the prestige Business News WA 40 under 40 Awards, a program designed to recognise and celebrate WA's 40 leading business entrepreneurs under the age of 40.

His local events company Wrapped Creations has been at the forefront of improving event services for the region, bringing the community music festivals, beachside markets and business functions.

Mr Yakas' latest award comes off the back of four awards at the 2014 KDCCI Business Excellence Awards, including Business of the Year.

He said winning the 40 under 40 award was a dream come true.

"I remember over 10 years ago saying to a work colleague one day I wanted to win one, and now to be awarded the WA Business News 40 under 40 Award feels amazing," he said.

"The calibre of previous winners is quite impressive and to be considered for these exclusive alumni is something I am certainly proud of."

Mr Yakas said he was passionate about creating a socially, culturally and economically vibrant community in the Pilbara.

"Ever since arriving in Karratha I've had this vision of bringing city-style events to the region and ensuring the region became a place people wanted to live and not just work," he said.

"I really have a positive outlook for 2015 for the region and believe it's what you make of it and with every event we create, we ensure we include opportunities to support local business growth and development.

"To be recognised at a state level for delivering this vision is something I could have never imagined and I am truly proud of my and my teams' achievements."

Established in 2002, the 40 Under 40 Awards program is designed to recognise and celebrate WA's 40 leading business entrepreneurs under the age of 40.
