Former Kalgoorlie MLA John Bowler has re-entered the public arena, confirming this morning that he will run for Kalgoorlie-Boulder Mayor at this year’s local Government elections.

Mr Bowler remained tight lipped on potential policy platforms when he spoke to the Kalgoorlie Miner this morning, but said he thought it was “time for change”.

“What I want for Kalgoorlie-Boulder is to revitalise the spirit of the city,” he said.

“I’ve never seen Kalgoorlie-Boulder look as bad as it is.”

The announcement makes Mr Bowler the second man to officially throw his hat in the ring, after the John ‘General Hercules’ Katahanas declared his intention to make a tilt for office in February.

It is unknown if current Mayor Ron Yuryevich will stand for re-election.
