A blistering half century from opener James O'Brien has won the Redbacks the West Pilbara junior cricket title by 44 runs over the Bushrangers.

The win capped off a brilliant season from the Redbacks who won all but one game on their march to the finals.

O'Brien wasted no time getting off the mark after being sent in to bat first, punishing the Bushrangers bowlers with five sixes in a 25 ball half-century.

He was well supported by middle order trio Cade Henry (16), Leroy McCawley (13) and Cayden Standish (10) as the Redbacks powered their way to 5/152 off 20 overs.

Jack Trinder did well in subduing the Redbacks with the ball, finishing with figures of 2-11 off his two overs.

The Bushrangers top three all put runs on the board giving them hope of defeating their opponents for the first time this season.

Will Cooney high-scored for his team with an unbeaten 27 off 19 deliveries, including one six, capping off a season which saw him score 339 runs at an average of 84.8.

The middle and lower order failed to fire however as the Bushrangers lost their last seven wickets for 54 after a promising start.

Seven bowlers got among the wickets for the Redbacks, including a double for Angus Johnston (2-7).

In the end the Bushrangers could not score fast enough, finishing on 9-108 off their 20 overs.
