A 32-year-old man has been flown to Royal Perth Hospital following a car crash in Port Hedland yesterday.

The current status of the South Hedland man's condition today has not been released by WA Country Health Service.

Last night, prior to being flown to Perth, the man's condition was listed as serious with life-threatening injuries.

The 35-year-old male passenger from the same vehicle remains at Hedland Health Campus in a stable condition, while the 39-year-old driver of the second vehicle, a truck, has been discharged.

The crash occurred on the South Hedland side of Redbank Bridge on Wilson Street between Port and South Hedland.

A WA police spokeswoman said officers were called to the serious crash at 10.28am.

It is believed emergency service personnel worked for approximately an hour to free the 32-year-old and 35-year-old from the wreckage of a four-wheel-drive.

The road remained closed until approximately 2pm.
