Summer Cup heating up

Dry conditions again saw a big field turn out for the Summer Cup competition at Lake Kununurra Golf Club on Saturday.

Craig Jolly still appears the man to beat with three weeks remaining, well out in front with a total score or 243 from his six best rounds.

The lack of rain to start 2015 had allowed green keepers to regularly mow the fairways and rough while players are also getting substantial bounce and roll because of the firm ground.

There is yet to be a washout in this season's competition and despite some wetter conditions in early January scoring has picked up again heading into the final few rounds.

The handicapped stableford event has been running since November and will finish on March 21 ahead of the regular season.

The competition had players submit a card on Saturday for either nine or 12 holes with their best six cards combined determining a winner.

Players can play their round any time on Saturday before 5.30pm for a $10 fee and can play as many weeks as they like before the competition ends. The handicap gives players of all abilities have the chance to feature in the prizes.
