Pearler of a year planned

The Broome Pearlers are back training and have a busy year planned.

The Broome Pearlers are gearing up for a busy 2015, with the club back training and a host of fixtures lined up for the year.

The masters football team, which is comprised of players aged 35 or over, have started training again every Thursday at St Mary's Oval at 5pm, with solid numbers turning up.

The Pearlers have gone from strength-to-strength since being formed in 2011, with an emphasis on inclusion and a social side to the club.

This year the club has fixtures against the prisoners of the West Kimberley Regional Prison in Derby and a number of clashes against the Clontarf Academy planned.

A masters carnival is also set to take place in Port Hedland this June for the first time.

The Pearlers will also travel to take on community team One Arm Point in August.

Pearlers president John Morris said the club was social and players of any age and level of experience were welcome to get involved.

For more information, attend training at 5pm on Thursdays at St Mary's Oval, call Mr Morris on 0405 616 232 or vice president Duncan Thorn on 0429 424 934.
