Bushrangers look good for a finals berth

Rhys Gibbs bats for the Tigers at Bulgarra Oval.

With just three rounds to go until the finals the Bushrangers junior cricket team did their chances no harm, holding onto second place with a six-wicket victory over the Bulls.

The Bushrangers sent their opponents in to bat, although that looked a risky decision early on as Jarvis Hurley (7) and Priyanshu Malik (22no) built a steady lead.

It took some sharp fielding from Kiran Byles to end the partnership, running Hurley out with the score on 27.

A mini collapse followed as Zachary Hunter (0) and Ethan Dow (3) both skied balls to Lachlan Marion off Andrew Mullen's (2/9) bowling.

Malik and Jake Butler (17) got the bulls to 4/93 to give the Bulls a fighting chance. In reply double-figure contributions from the likes of Michael Durack (14), Jack Trinder (19), Marion (11) and Lochlen Tietze-Bentley (13) ensured the result was never in doubt as the Bushrangers cruised towards victory.

Will Cooney did the bulk of the damage though, blasting 34 off just 12 deliveries as the Bushrangers cruised beyond their target on their way to 4/134.
