Drivers brace for demolition

Drivers are encouraged to prepare for April’s demolition derby.

Hedland rev-heads are being encouraged to prepare their cars now for next month's demolition derby.

Port Hedland Speedway president Warren McDonogh said the event was open to all thrillseekers in town, with two local female schoolteachers taking the cash prize last year "in a Toyota Camry wagon, of all things".

"The process for building a car is relatively straightforward," he said.

"We have contacts of businesses in town that are willing to assist with materials required."

Vehicles must be a sedan or wagon to enter. Utes and four-wheel-drives are not permitted. "With $2000 prize money up for grabs for the winner, I am sure there will be some keen interest," Mr McDonogh said.

The demolition derby will take place on April 18 at Port Hedland Speedway from 7pm.
