The fifth generation of an established Kalgoorlie family was welcomed into the world this week.

Weighing in at 3.41kg, Isabelle Thomson was born on February 24 to the delight of parents Rikky and Asha Thomson.

Described as the Matriarch of the family, Lady Brand - wife of the late Sir David Brand - made the journey from Perth to meet her great-great granddaughter on Saturday.

Mr Brand was WA's longest serving Premier after completing four terms between 1959 and 1971.

Inviting the Kalgoorlie Miner to the special event, it was clear all members of the family were thrilled with the latest addition.

With many babysitters ready to extend a helping hand at any second, overjoyed father Rikky Thomson said four days into life with his first child was so far amazing.

"A lot of people don't even have their grandparents, so it's really amazing to have Gran-non here," he said.

Grandma Jonnene Thomson or "Nonna" as she was known said the key to the strong family bond was respecting one another.

"It's about making sure you get together often, knowing that you're valued within the family and wanting the best for one another," she said.

"Mum comes down to sporting events and special events when she can, and she made sure she was here for the birth."

Describing her mother as a "strong lady", great-grandmother Nita Thomson or "Granita" said she never expected to have a great-grandchild but was over the moon.
