Karratha Gymnastics Club has farewelled long-time coach Shayla Prescott.

Prescott was awarded a lifetime membership for her outstanding service to the club, where she has been a member since she was two.

She joins the only two former recipients of the accolade, Janet Nicholson and Rose Clark.

President Amanda Rintoul said Prescott started with the club as a young gymnast in 1998 and trained and competed for many years before she made the transition to coach.

"Her calm enthusiasm and reassuring presence is much appreciated by all her students, as they strive to improve their strength and technique," she said.

"Shayla (Prescott) also initiated and taught acro classes as well as choreographing floor routines to suit the abilities and personalities of our senior gymnasts.

"She is now heading to university in Perth and the whole club wishes her all the very best in her studies there. She will be greatly missed."

Secretary Dorothea Lloyd said the club would also bid farewell to president Amanda Rintoul this season.

"I would also like to say goodbye to Amanda, as well as her and her family who are moving on to new adventures," she said.

"Amy Strange will now take on the role of president.

"2014 was such a successful year for the club, with over 180 gymnasts competing in regionals and four gymnasts attending the States, two of which received silver medals."

"We are really optimistic about the coming year; the club has over 503 members and we are currently welcoming new committee members."
