Last hurrah for inclusion program
Representatives from Perth-based Inclusion WA travelled to Broome last week to hold the Broome Inclusive Sport school holiday program, with more than 100 youngsters making the most of the initiative.
Inclusion WA is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to enrich communities through the use of sport and recreation.
They were supported by local agencies Youth Justice, PCYC, Hype and Marnja Jarndu.
A lawn bowls session was held on Tuesday, before the children took to the swimming pool at BRAC on Wednesday.
The week's activities were rounded off by an AFL session on Thursday, with Kimberley Football Association's Michael Farmer teaching the young stars of tomorrow the tricks of the trade.
Unfortunately, due to resourcing and funding issues, Inclusion WA's presence in Broome is to end.
The organisation has been visiting Broome regularly in the past year, with just under 1000 participants recorded in 36 sessions.
Inclusion WA sport and community development officer Matt Shaw thanked everyone who had helped in the past 12 months.
"The success of the school holiday programs could not have been achieved without the help of so many dedicated individuals and community service organisations in the community," he said.
