Anzac tributes across NW

Kununurra Dawn Service.

Anzac Day on Friday will see people across the North West pay tribute and remember the Australian and New Zealand soldiers who fought in World War I. Here is our guide to the services and events in the NW.

Kununurra
RSL Dawn Service: 4.30am, Anzac Hill. Followed by a gunfire breakfast

Anzac March: 9.30am, White Gum Park to the town’s cenotaph (outside the old Shire office.) RSL 2-UP, 12pm, Gulliver’s Tavern. All 2-UP proceeds go towards the RSL.

Wyndham

RSL Dawn Service: 5am, Wyndham Five Rivers Lookout. Followed by a gunfire breakfast.

Halls Creek

RSL Dawn Service and march. 5.45am, Halls Creek Caravan Park to the Shire of Halls Creek office. The Dawn Service will start at 6am, followed by a gunfire breakfast.

Lake Argyle

Dawn Service: 4.45am, bus departs the resort for the Dam Wall. Followed by a gunfire breakfast.

Roebourne
The Shire of Roebourne, Karratha RSL and Pilbara Regiment will hold a march from 5.45am and dawn service from 6.10am in Roebourne.

Ex-servicemen and women and community members are encouraged to march. A gold-coin donation breakfast will be held at Roebourne Fire Station.

Karratha
In Karratha, the march will start at 5.45am on Welcome Road, where a dawn service will take place at the Shire memorial from 6am.

It will be followed by a gunfire breakfast, art exhibition and music.

Tom Price
The Pilbara Regiment B-Troop will run a dawn service in Tom Price, starting from 5.30am at Memorial Park, Central Road.
Bayungu elder-owned business Jarrubardji Total Waste Management sponsored the Tom Price service and has donated a wreath to be laid by resident Cecelia Parker.
Jarrubardji director Ailsa Johnstone said the wreath would represent the Aboriginal soldiers who fought in Australia's wars.
"We did it because people are gradually starting to recognise that indigenous people served in the war," she said.
Following the service, a march will progress to the B-Troop depot, where a gunfire breakfast will be held for the cost of a gold-coin donation.
The depot will also host traditional Anzac Day games from 9am to 2pm.
Bar facilities are available and a barbecue lunch will be for sale from noon.

All donations will go to Legacy, a charity that provides social and financial support to families after the death of a family member during or after their defence career.

Paraburdoo
In Paraburdoo, the Anzac Day march will set off from the Ashburton Hall from 5.45am to the Anzac memorial.

A breakfast will be held at the Paraburdoo Bowling Club from 6.30am.

Onslow
The Anzac March in Onslow starts at the Beadon Bay Hotel at 5.30am, and will be led by current and returned servicemen and women or representatives from families in honour of those who served.

The dawn service will proceed at 6am at the Onslow Anzac memorial followed by a breakfast at the MPC.
