Broome's first-ever beach netball carnival is set to take place this Saturday, with high school students, local celebrities and senior members of the local association set to put on a spectacle at Cable Beach.

Broome Netball Association has purchased some custom-made beach netball posts and is set to modify the rules of the sport to ensure a free-flowing and exciting afternoon of action.

The day will begin at noon with exhibition matches between students, before well-known local figures such as Mick Albert, Saeed Amin and Naomi Pigrim take to the sandy court.

After this, a sudden-death round robin competition will be held.

BNA has teamed up with the Broome Surf Lifesaving Club, with its bar open from noon. After the event, players, spectators and the public are welcome to attend sunset drinks and presentations at the surf club.

Event organiser Amy Quartermaine said the main reasons for the day were to have fun, raise the profile of netball in the community and strengthen the relationship with the surf club.
