Police seize 'cash, cannabis' in NW raid
Two men will face court this month on multiple drug charges after police allegedly seized $7000 cash and a significant amount of cannabis from a Dampier Peninsula property yesterday morning.
Dampier Peninsula police officers, assisted by Broome police and detectives, carried out a drug search at a One Arm Point property around 9am.
Dampier Peninsula Senior Sergeant Neville Ripp said police had seen a suspicious vehicle around the area in the past few days.
Police stopped the vehicle and executed a search warrant at a nearby property.
Police will allege 40 grams of cannabis was recovered as well as $7000 cash.
A 33-year-old Margaret River man has been charged with several offences including possession of cannabis with intent to sell or supply and possession of a smoking implement. He will appear in Broome Magistrate’s Court on June 18.
A 39-year-old local man also faces similar charges.
He will appear in Dampier Peninsula Magistrate’s Court on June 20.
Sen. Sgt. Ripp said the operation served as a “forceful message” for people who intended to come to visit Dampier Peninsula communities.
“People will be watched, stopped and have their car searched,” he said.
“We watch people who come up and we do patrol day and night.”
