Brothers put in strong effort for WA at champs

Albany brothers Adam and Ben Halsall produced impressive performances in their respective divisions at the Subaru 2015 Australian MTB National Championships in Victoria a fortnight ago.

The pair, who were taking part in their first national championships at the tough and lengthy track in Bright, were two of the 14 competitors that travelled across from WA.

In the sport men category, Adam finished fifth out of the 27 riders that competed, recording a time of 5min.13.03sec., which was 14.38 seconds off the winner Adam Davis.

Ben competed in the challenging elite men category that featured a host of professional riders, and reached his goal of finishing inside the top 50.

In a field of 71 competitors, Ben finished 50th in a time of 5:01.52 which was far quicker than his seeding time.

Ben, who crashed during the championships, was just over a minute off the eventual winner Troy Brosnan. The local brothers described the course as long and rough, saying it challenged every aspect of their skill and fitness.
