Kambalda in grand form in Exmouth

The Kambalda Amateur Swimming Club has ensured it will remain in the country pennants B-grade, finishing fourth in the division at this year's event in Exmouth.

The club travelled to the North West town over the long weekend with a 24-strong squad to compete against the rest of regional WA.

Jameson Vodden and Kris Mitting were two of the stand-outs for the nickel town's club, picking up gold medals in their respective classes.

Vodden won gold medals in the boys' 11 and under 50m backstroke and butterfly, a silver in the 50m breast stroke and bronze in the 50m butterfly.

Not to be outdone, Mitting picked up the gold in the boys' 15 and under 100m freestyle, while also claiming silver in the 100m backstroke and 50m butterfly.

Rianna Matulin was one of the club's best female performers, winning silver in the girls' 14 and under swimmer, silver in the 100m backstroke and bronze in the 100m freestyle.

Amelia Anderson claimed silver in the 100m backstroke and a bronze in the girls' 13 and under 100m breaststroke.

The club also sent a number of seniors to the meet to compete in the open and 17 and over ev- ents.

Karl Steinhauser won bronze in the 17 and over 50m butterfly and bronze in the open men's 100m freestyle, while Brett Anderson claimed bronze in the 17 and over 50m backstroke.

Norseman's Hannah Turner, 14, and Jake Warner, 15, made their country pennants debuts representing the Kambalda club.

While not claiming any medals, Turner and Warner swam up an age group and recorded a number of personal bests each.

Lana Guy won bronze in the girls' 12 and under 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 50m breaststroke.
