Credo home to field study centre
Credo was a working sheep station until 2007 and will now play an important role in helping environmental researchers unlock the secrets of our region.
The station, 70km north of Coolgardie, is now home to a $220,000 multi-purpose field study centre, established by the Department of Parks and Wildlife, the CSIRO and the Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Network.
The new centre is one of 10 sites in the Australian Supersite Network and the only one in Western Australia.
The facility will be used in research projects aimed at providing a better understanding of the ecology of the unique Great Western Woodlands area and the potential impacts of climate change.
DPAW regional manager Ian Kealley said it had been a long process since the department bought the property in March 2007.
