Valentine’s Day is a busy time for chocolate makers. So Cathy Yuryevich is understandably hard at work producing her latest range in the lead-up to the special day.
Her new chocolate business, Cocoa Desert, has been slowly building from word-of-mouth recommendations and promotion.
“I’ve been running for just over 12 months,” Ms Yuryevich said. “I work from home because I’ve got young children. Three generations of my family have made confectionery and chocolate, so I basically learnt from my mother.”
“Every Christmas we made chocolate for people as gifts, and every year someone would say to me ‘oh, you really should sell these’.
“So, as time went on I decided to try and make it into a business.”
Ms Yuryevich said her latest creations incorporated native Australian ingredients and flavours into the chocolate to make a product unique to the Goldfields.
