Jailed for trespassing

A Kalgoorlie-Boulder man has been sentenced to eight months jail for trying to break in to the house of his former partner.

Aaron Rex Leahy, 38, appeared in the Kalgoorlie Magistrate’s Court yesterday charged with trespassing and damaging property.

The court heard Leahy arrived at his former partner’s house in Hannans on November 25 to confront her about her new relationship.

He knocked on the door, but when his former partner realised who it was, she refused to let him in. Leahy responded by banging on the doors and windows. He then saw a window ajar and tried to remove a security screen to force his way in.

Leahy’s 10-year-old daughter was inside the house at the time of the offence.

The prosecution also gave an account of similar offences in 2010 – Leahy broke into the house of another former partner when she was not home.
