Web puts landholders in the know

Small landholders can now access a diverse range of agricultural information following the launch of a new website and electronic newsletter.

The online services have been provided the Department of Agriculture and Food’s Small Landholder Information Service.

SLIS manager Yolandee Jones said the information would help small landholders improve sustainable land management and business expertise.

“The website provides current and potential small landholders with a diverse range of agricultural information, SLIS registration details and staff contacts,” Ms Jones said.

“It also links to the current Fresh Food Link website, aimed at connecting smaller producers directly with suppliers, markets, processors and value-adders.”

A key feature of the new website is the extensive Noteworthy series which provides information on animals, farm maintenance, business, pastures, organics, soil and water. The site also allows small landholders to register to become a SLIS member and receive the e-newsletter.
